Harwood Welcome Letter

Dear Harwood Families -

It’s with great excitement that we join the Harwood community. As we wrap up our first official week at Harwood - the dedication and commitment of the staff to your children has been evident from the onset.

As we begin our transition we want to create clear and consistent communication.

To this end we will be sending out a bi-weekly blog on Thursdays with updates bucketed under curious, caring and connection themes.

  • Curious- Bi-weekly updates regarding return to learn and other community wide announcements.

  • Caring- Considerations for how to care for each other as we move forward

  • Connected - Opportunities to foster and maintain relationships with each other

Curious

  • AOE provided the following Guidelines on June 17th for a Strong and Healthy Start to the 2020-2021 school year. This provides us lots to work with. That said, planning for return to learning is evolving and changing. We will keep you informed as decisions are made.

    • Please find a synthesis of these guidelines here.

  • Scheduling - Student 2020-2021 schedule has been created. We will distribute once the return to learning plan is confirmed.

  • Progress Report - End of year reports have been mailed home. Please reach out to Sally McCarthy at smmcarthy@huusd.org if you do not receive one yet.

  • Drivers Education - We will be reaching out to families and students who still need to complete driving hours by the middle of next week. Thank you for your ongoing patience.

Caring

  • As we all continue to support our children in chartering this time of COVID - we will share resources that you might find valuable. This week A Message to Caregivers.

Connection

  • We look forward to scheduling community connections in August. Stay tuned for details.

  • As we continue to plan for return to school - we are asking families to complete the survey sent out earlier this week. Fall 2020 HUUSD Return to Learn Survey

Please do so by Wednesday July 15, 2020.

In partnership and with gratitude,

Meg and Laurie
