Leadership Opportunities for Sophomores
Harwood will have the opportunity to send representatives to two different leadership programs this spring. HOBY: Each year, high school sophomores from across the state attend a four day Leadership Seminar as student ambassadors. Throughout the seminar, HOBY VT helps students to discover their leadership potential and refine their skills to enact positive change in their communities. The HOBY curriculum allows students to grow as individuals and develop their own leadership style through hands-on activities, guest speakers, and volunteer service. Ambassadors leave empowered, energized, and part of a greater network of HOBY Alumni leaders throughout Vermont. HOBY will be May 25- 28th at Vermont Technical College in Randolph, VT. RYLA: Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) is for High School sophomores (ages 15 – 16). The students learn by experience and actions. They learn about personality traits and how to bring out everyone's talents. They learn about their own traits and talents, which many are surprised that they have. Oh, and they have FUN while doing this! There will be a service project during the weekend where students can personally make a difference for someone that they do not know. RYLA will take place June 23 - June 25th at Northern Vermont University in Johnson, VT.
Applications are due by April 7th. If you would like to be considered for a spot in either program please should fill out this brief application.
