NEWCOMERS GROUP
The purpose of this group is to welcome students who are new to Harwood Union High
School and to provide opportunities for them to become acquainted with others.
The goals of this group are:
1. To network mentors with newcomers so the transition to life at Harwood is more
smooth and less stressful.
2. To provide social activities on campus as well as away from Harwood.
The Newcomers group would meet two times a month or more as needed.
The activities would be planned by student leaders and some suggested activities could
be: bowling, skating, golfing, using the climbing wall, hiking on the trails, cooking,
doing art, music, sledding, and having lunch meetings.
The number of students currently involved are 30 and there are 6 adult volunteer leaders.
