1. Acceptable Use: The Harwood Union Middle/ High School’s purpose in accessing the Internet is to support research and education by providing access to unique resources. Any user’s account must be in support of education and research and consistent with the educational objectives of the Harwood Union Middle/ High School. Use of other organization’s networks or computing resources as accessed through the Harwood Union Middle/ High school must comply with the rules set forth in this policy. Transmission of any material in violation of any United States or Vermont statute or regulations is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, copyrighted material, threatening or obscene material, or material protected by trade secret. Use for commercial activities is not acceptable. Use for product endorsement or political lobbying is also prohibited. 2. Privileges: The use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use will result in a cancellation of those privileges. (Each person who receives an account will first take part in training provided by Harwood Union Middle/ High School pertaining to the proper use of the network.) The System Administrator may close an account at any time as required. The administration, faculty, and staff of Harwood Union Middle/ High School may request the System Administrator to deny, revoke, or suspend specific user accounts. 3. 5. Vandalism: Vandalism will result in cancellation of privileges. Vandalism is defined as any malicious attempt to harm or destroy data of another user, LAN, Internet, or any agencies or other networks that are connected to the Internet backbone. 6. Harwood Union Middle/ High School makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed or implied, for the service it is providing. School will not be responsible for any damages suffered. This includes loss of data resulting from delays, nondeliveries, mis-deliveries, or service interruptions caused by its own negligence or the user’s errors or omissions. Use of any information obtained via the Internet is at the user’s own risk. Harwood Union Middle/ High School specifically denies any responsibilities for the accuracy or quality of information obtained through its Internet services. |
