Kathy Cadwell
Kathy Cadwell received her MA in Anthropology from Middlebury College and
her MA in International Relations with a Cognate in Curriculum and Instruction
from the University of Denver. She taught history at Harwood for ten years in
the 1980's and also worked on the faculty of Middlebury College. While at Harwood
she and two other individuals created Project Harmony; in 1990 she left Harwood
to devote herself full-time to PH work. She has traveled extensively in the countries
of the former Soviet Union and has led trips with teenagers to many parts of the
globe. Most recently she took Vermont students to Jordan and hosted Jordanian
students in Vermont. She is thrilled to be back at Harwood once again! |

Gregory Shepler
Gregory Shepler grew up in Pontiac, Michigan. He graduated from Western Michigan University, majoring in Political Science. He came to Vermont in 1980 in order to study Environmental Law. He received his Law Degree and a Masters in Environ-Public Policy from Vermont Law School. After becoming certified in education, Mr. Shepler started teaching at Harwood Union in 1988. After a two-year absence to work as the principal of the Green Mountain Waldorf School, Mr. Shepler returned to Harwood in 2001. He lives in Middlesex where he enjoys spending time with his three boys. |

Steffan Christiensen
Mr. Christiensen has been a teacher at Harwood for four years. His education has taken him to over forty-six countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. He completed Undergraduate, Graduate, and Post-Graduate studies in Belgium, Germany, and Vermont. His hobbies include gardening, scuba-diving and travel. |

Jean Berthiaume
Mr. Jean R. Berthiaume (or Mr. B, as the students call him) is a native Vermonter who spent his youth in the Northeast Kingdom. He holds a degree in Social Science/Secondary Education from Lyndon State College and is nearing the completion of his Masters at the University of Vermont in curriculum and instruction. He teaches a unique civics course entitled, "Creating Sustainable Communities (CSC)." In addition to teaching CSC this year, he also teaches U.S. History. Jean's work strives to establish relevance in the lives of his students. He believes that "relevance" is the remedy to the ever-growing disconnect between our youth and their communities.

Robert MacLeod
Mr. MacLeod graduated from Concord Academy in 1984. In 1988 he earned a B.A. in History from Vassar College. He earned a M.S. Ed. from the University of Southern Maine in 1999. Mr. MacLeod has been teaching at Harwood since 2001. Prior to this he taught at Long Trail School in Southern Vermont and Noble High School in Maine. In addition to teaching, he is also a farmer. Mr. MacLeod and his wife have a 160-acre farm in East Hardwick where they raise an extremely rare breed of cows, the American Milking Devons. There about 200 in the world today, and Mr. MacLeod and his wife have 11. They also sell eggs from free range chickens. In his spare time, Mr. MacLeod enjoys hiking and canoeing. |

David Munford
Mr. Munford teaches World History, Modern European History and Psychology. He is a native Vermonter who was educated at Middlebury Union High School, The Putney School, Middlebury College and UVM. He has a Masters in teaching History. He previously taught at Quarry Hill Preschool, Otter Valley Union High School and the University of Vermont. The 2005-2006 school year will be Mr. Munford's twelfth.
