"The Department of World Languages provides students with the communication skills needed to participate in many communities of our rapidly changing world. The complexities of the 21st century require students to be prepared to make connections with, and comparisons to other cultures as they come to understand their role as global citizens. The study of other languages, literatures, and cultures, ancient or modern, foster an understanding of diversity as it equips them with necessary skills to see the world through a variety of lenses.
