Amanda Dixon

Ms. Dixon hails from Guilford, Vermont. She graduated from Bates College with a BA in English, and recently completed her Master of Arts in Teaching at Brown University. Thrilled to be back in Vermont, she is in her first year of teaching at Harwood. Between college and graduate school she coached nordic skiing, led trail crews, taught forestry and environmental education, studied in Norway, and worked as a special education aid. An avid outdoors woman and committed skier, she loves nothing more than Vermont in the winter time.

Recognizing that a good teacher’s reach is limitless, she aims to establish a learning community that achieves kindness, courtesy, respect, and responsibility through hard work. By promoting intellectual rigor and open mindedness, she is committed to motivating students to see that, in the words of Robert Browning, “Man’s reach must exceed his grasp, else what’s a heaven for.”
