Driver Education at Harwood Union

Supervised Practice

At least 40 hours of supervised practice is required using the HUHS Parent Guide. At least 10 of these hours must be done at night. A parent/guardian must attend a meeting to receive and go over the expected use of the HUHS Parent Guide.

In order to provide the best possible experience for students, it is essential to form a strong partnership between students, parents and instructor. If this partnership is to produce results, a carefully prepared plan must exist. Our five objectives for building a successful partnership are:

Provide parents with a better knowledge of the Driver Education program.
Promote better traffic safety communication between students, parents and instructor which can result in better supervision of the student driver.
Provide parents with driver and traffic safety knowledge which can result in student and parent driver improvement.
Inform parents of the legal responsibilities and insurance implications of having a teenage driver.
Provide supervised practice by parents which can result in a better prepared student driver.
