Joan Cnossen

Department Head

Joan Cnossen has been teaching at Harwood for 26 years. She started as a math teacher and got her certification in computer science, as well. She as taught classes in both areas all these years. Currently, she is teachong Web Design, Programming in C and Personal Finance Classes. She enjoys the variety in her day.
She did her undergraduate work at Bethany College in elementary education. She got her MEd. from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in guidance and counseling. She has taken many courses in technology and finance during the past 26 years and enjoys the online format for such classes. This allows her to interact with teachers all over the country.

Amy Cavanagh

Amy Cavanagh is Harwood's Business Teacher and has been here since the Fall of 1995. Currently, she teachers 7th Grade Computers where she works with the 7th Grade Core team to integrate technology into their curriculum. She also teaches Accounting, PC Applications, Basic Algebra, Bookkeeping, and Multimedia Productions. In addition to teaching Ms. Cavanagh is adviser to Harwood's FBLA club (Future Business Leaders of America) where she has attended National Conference with members for the past five years. She also co-advises the Harwood Video Club which produces television reports for Channel 44. Ms. Cavanagh also is a member of the Local Standards Board and assist's Harwood teachers with their portfolios.
Originally from NYC, Ms. Cavanagh moved to Vermont in 1969 and atttended Harwood Union during her freshman year. She never dreamed that she'd be teaching here 26 years later. She enjoys reading, singing, and traveling--most recently to Ireland--where she has spent time with Irish relatives.
